Gym floor restoration at Aberdeen School

Our main hall is an important space in our school as it is used as a central, upstairs multipurpose room. It is used for everything from assemblies and concerts to indoor sports which is why it has a sprung floor. As this big hall has constantly been in use for the past 20/25 years, it was time to give it a refresh and some much needed maintenance.

The floor hadn’t been pulled up in decades. When we picked it up and saw the condition it was in, we realised we needed to get a professional in to restore the specialised sprung floor properly. Paul was very helpful and knowledgeable throughout the whole process. He did an excellent job of making the floor look brand new, the difference is just night and day.

We previously had multiple line markings on the floor for various sports courts in white, black and green but Paul simplified it to one netball court as that is the only sport that happens in the big hall now that would require line markings. It just looks so much cleaner and brighter being simplified to the white line markings on the light wood floor.

We also had another classroom space that often gets used as a conference room so we had Paul sand and lacquer this space too. It was important to make sure that the floor in this space was given a refresh as it is a room that visitors will use so we wanted to make sure it was in excellent condition.

Paul made the whole floor sanding and restoration experience easy, particularly in regard to the upkeep of the floors afterwards. He made sure we had all the correct mops and cleaning products so we can continue to keep the floor in pristine condition. We will definitely be using Paul again, we plan on getting him to do our downstairs gym in future.
