A carpet lift during a home renovation reveals damaged flooring
Our Pitch Pine 1847 flooring in our hallway had been encased in dirt and carpet for over 100 years. When we lifted the carpet as part of our home renovation, we could see that the floor had been damaged, some old repairs had been done to it and that it looked quite neglected overall.
At first, I was unsure if the floorboards could even be saved. I had found Paul on Facebook and got in touch with him to ask for his expertise to see whether he would be able to save the floor.
Paul arrived on time for our initial consultation and his energy, enthusiasm and passion for revitalising old floors was quite infectious. He was knowledgeable and showed us similar aged flooring projects he had undertaken. This gave us the confidence to move forward and achieve what seemed unachievable.
We let Paul decide on products and colour as he is the expert and I think he chose perfectly. There was some slippage on timing as there was other renovation work being undertaken in our home at the same time but Paul and his team were exceptionally accommodating.
The floor is unrecognisable now! It definitely has added the wow factor to our home and receives very favourable comments from those who visit. From thinking at first that the floor wouldn’t be saveable to Paul exceeding our expectations, the transformation is just incredible. There is definitely more work that we would like Paul to come and do for us in future.
We highly recommend Paul to anyone thinking about getting their wooden floor restored. He is a cracking, first class guy with a great team. We loved having them in the house. The whole experience has been a joy, especially with their support in the renovation of a much neglected house.
