How much does floor sanding cost?

The truth is that it depends. It depends on a range of varying factors such as:

  • The size of your floor.
  • The condition of your floor and level of repair needed - sometimes we can lift up a carpet and discover woodworm issues or possible water damage. Scratch marks also require a particular tool to fix them.
  • Type of finish or look you want - certain stains and paint finishes can be used to make your floor look like another timber such as walnut, oak or teak.
  • Materials used - certain flooring such as engineered boards require a higher grade of material used on them and certain tools are needed to remove scratches. We only use the best quality products to ensure a lasting finish.
  • Travel costs - we are based in the Northeast of Scotland. We do cover all of Scotland but a far away distance could incur travel costs.

standard service

Our straightforward service includes:
  • Carpet lifting (we prefer it if customers lift their carpet beforehand but we are more than happy to include this in our service free of charge if you need assistance).
  • Floor sanding with no repairs or filling
  • Application of high quality lacquer in a traditional finish
  • Tidying of work space once work is completed
  • Aftercare kit

    • The price will be £35 per square metre + VAT for work and there will also be a cost for the lacquer between £60 - over £100 depending on your choice of lacquer.

gap filling & repairs

Sometimes floors need gaps filled or perhaps you may want to stain your floor to give it a certain look. This service includes:
  • Carpet lifting if needed
  • Floor sanding
  • Repairs and gap filling
  • Application of finish of your choosing along with high quality lacquer
  • Tidying of work space once work is completed
  • Aftercare kit

    • The price will be £45 per square metre + VAT for work as well as an added cost of materials which varies depending on your finish and lacquer choice.

    Wood is a natural material and expertise is needed when working with it. There is an art to selecting timber and to get a grain that matches perfectly when doing repairs. Paul hand selects each piece to ensure it will match your current flooring so you do not notice any difference.

Larger Areas/Sports Hall Flooring

The price per square metre drops quite significantly due to working through the area pretty quickly. The base rate for this is £25 per square metre and up to £30 per square metre.

Sports line markings are charged separately as the price is dependent on court marking requirements and sizes. Sometimes the markings have to be made bespoke to the area size.

Carpet Lifting

Preferably you will have lifted your carpet before we start the project but we are more happy to lift your carpet free of charge if you need assistance with it or moving furniture from the room.

Stains & Finishes

The products we use bring out the natural effect of the wood excellently to ensure a beautiful finish. We use two grades of high quality floor lacquer - Bona HD Traffic and Bona Mega. These are the best products on the market and more environmentally friendly as they are water-based.

aftercare

Our aftercare kit is included in our price. It will include cleaning solutions and specific mops. We will keep you informed of what to use and when.
